Montara Pinot Noir 2003Winemaker, Mike McRae's Comments Savoury with cherry overtones and persistence that comes from great oak This stylish 2003 Pinot Noir with its cherry aromas and gamey flavours shows the complexity from maturing in new French oak. The soft tannins contribute to a savoury style with a smooth lingering appeal. Suggested Foods A very versatile wine well suited to game, lamb, pork, Atlantic salmon, Mediterranean and Italian style food. Suggested Cellaring Now to 2007 Viticulture Mike McRae, one of the pioneering winemakers of Pinot Noir in Victoria continues his passion of working with this elusive variety which shows its best with low yields. In 2003 the lowest yields for 33 years were recorded at Montara as a result of intense drought leading to vintage. The grapes were picked 7th April 2003. Maturation Matured in ultra exclusive Colbert French oak barriques for 6 months. Bottled with Stelvin closure.
