Montara Shiraz 2005 - Reviews & Medals

Herald-Sun, Paddy Kendler- July 1st, 2008
Four star rating
“An interesting, individual style of Shiraz, a far cry from the big, black Barossans
and their ilk in South Australia, not especially alcoholic nor too oaky.
The dominant fruit flavours are of ripe berries, the texture is gentle and even, and
the finish is dry but by no means gripping. There is certain poise and elegance about this wine is enduring."

Winestate Magazine 2008
Four star rating
"Sweet, jammy fruit bouquet on the nose and plenty of full fruit intensity on the palate holding the crisp acid and fine tannins together well."

"Lifted, estery, tropical aroamas and a long, flavoursome palate that's simple in structure but very varietal in flavour."

Montara Riesling 2006 - Reviews & Medals

James Halliday Wine Companion 2008
90/100 Rating
"Spice, apple, pear and lime aromas; in the taste spectrum all on its own, very different to either the Clare Valley or Great Southern; has length and balance."

"I don't think I have a love affair with Riesling, affairs seem secret and to confess to one with a grape variety seems stupid. If I were to have one, which I don't, it could well be with Riesling, I mean I love the wines that it produces, and that's no secret either. This wine is from the Grampians, and has a rich and almost heady nose, ripe fruit and notes of minerals, steel and a whiff of kero. The Montara Riesling has lovely mouthfeel, due to slight residual sugar, don't be scared off by that by the way, as the acidity balances it out. This wine has one of those qualities with a dumb name, and that name is drinkability! This one is quite rare, not in too many bottle shops at the moment, but certainly one to keep an eye out for. As always Rieslings are great value, and this is no exception at around $20. Ask your local bottle shop."
